Ground Source Heat Pumps

Ecopac also specialise in designing and installing ground source heat pumps to help drive heating systems in your home or business.

In a near opposite to air source heat pumps, a ground source heat pump takes heat from the ground. The pipes for the pump are buried under the ground and can be used to heat radiators, provide underfloor heating or heat up water.

Much like solar thermal, heat is absorbed into a fluid which flows through the pipes (in this case a water and anti freeze mix) in to a heat exchanger pump. The benefit of this energy source is that the ground maintains a fairly constant temperature (under the surface) all year round.

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) provides financial support to encourage the uptake of renewable and low carbon heat technologies like ground heat pumps. To reduce your CO² emissions further, consider installing Solar PV or other form of renewable electricity generating system to power the compressor and pump.
